About this event
Unlocking the power of a multi-generational workforce
With five generations now represented in today's workplace, mentors are increasingly supporting individuals whose experiences, expectations and perspectives may differ significantly from their own. Understanding these generational influences can help you build stronger relationships, communicate more effectively and better support the development of your mentees.
While generational labels can provide useful context, they can also create unhelpful assumptions and stereotypes. In this engaging and thought-provoking webinar, leadership expert and award-winning author Russell Beck explores the social, economic and technological factors that have shaped each generation's values, behaviours and motivations. Through practical insights and real-world examples, he will help you move beyond stereotypes and develop a deeper understanding of the people you support.
By recognising how different generations view work, communication, feedback and career development, you will be better equipped to adapt your approach, build trust, navigate potential differences and create more meaningful mentoring conversations. This session will provide valuable insights to help you connect more effectively with mentees from all generations and unlock their full potential.
What you'll learn
During this session, Russell will:
- Highlight common causes of inter-generational tension and how to address them effectively
- Explore each generation through the lens of formative experiences, economic conditions and technological change
- Explain how generational values are created and how they influence workplace behaviours and expectations
- Identify the unique strengths and motivations that each generation brings to an organisation
- Demonstrate how greater understanding and appreciation of different perspectives can improve collaboration, engagement and performance
